I've admired Jake Hicks' work and technique with gelled lighting for a long time, so I jumped at the chance to watch him in action! This is a wonderful set of tutorial videos. Jake is fun and unassuming, and the production is simple, even a bit clunky at times. But to me, that shows he cares much more about the content than he does about everything in his videos being super-slick. One caution I will add, though. IMO this tutorial is not for beginners. I've been a commercial studio photographer for more than 30 years, so I had no trouble following his explanations, but he throws a tremendous amount of different kinds of lighting and shooting information at the viewer in a very short amount of time. So much so, it might overwhelm an absolute beginner who has no experience with any of these studio lighting terms and techniques. I consider this an advanced course, but one very much worth the investment if you're interested in his technique!
